The gear ratios in mopeds are very important to get the most out of the engine. A too long gear ratio can lead you not to use all the power of the engine, and with a too short one the same, normally you have to follow some guidelines to choose them.
In the case of the crown gear it is totally different, if it has more teeth it means a shorter gear ratio (more RPM) on the other hand if it has less teeth it means longer (more top speed)
