The brake master cylinder converts pressure from the lever into hydraulic pressure to push the caliper piston. If the internal seals are worn, the piston seizes, or a fluid leak appears, the lever loses firmness and the brake no longer works with the correct pressure.

When it fails, the symptoms are usually clear: spongy feel, excessive lever travel, pressure loss, irregular braking, or traces of fluid around the master cylinder body.

Fitting a new OEM brake master cylinder restores pressure in the system, a firmer lever, and correct caliper operation.
