Reed valves and petals

At Motoscoot you can find a wide variety of reed valves and reeds petals, both for replacement or substitution of the one you already have.
Basically, it is about controlling the intake timing of the air-fuel mixture through valves that work as 'one-way' (they allow the mixture to pass only in one direction and not the other) placed between the carburettor and the engine crankcase.

The reeds must be flexible so that when the engine draws in, they bend slightly and allow the air-fuel mixture to pass; by achieving good circulation of the mixture, we will obtain an increase in engine power.
There are 3 types of reed materials: Metal, fibreglass, Kevlar or carbon.

Metal: These are fitted by standard 2-stroke engines from the factory.
Fibreglass: These are the most common.
Carbon fibre, Kevlar or other composite materials: In principle, these offer the best performance and are the most used in competition engines or high-end preparations.
