The clutch friction plates, also known as intermediate discs or metal discs, are key components of the clutch system in geared motorcycles. They are placed between the friction discs and their function is to transmit engine torque to the primary shaft of the gearbox through mechanical friction.

With use, the clutch friction plates can deform due to heat or wear out from contact with the friction discs, which leads to loss of performance, clutch slippage, or difficulty engaging gears.
