If you have tuned the engine, it makes no sense to leave the intake as the bottleneck. The SWR MRD kit combines a 32 mm carburettor with the Metrakit V3S by Moto Tassinari Reed valve, forming an assembly designed for tuned 2-Stroke engines that require intake delivery to match the rest of the engine.

32 mm carburettor: its larger diameter increases the mixture flow area, reducing intake restriction when the engine demands a greater flow rate. On a tuned Derbi Variant, this makes it possible to feed the cylinder more effectively as RPM rises. With correctly adjusted carburetion, the aim is to achieve a stronger response when opening the throttle, greater punch, and stronger pull in the upper rev range.

Metrakit V3S by Moto Tassinari Reed valve: it controls the entry of the mixture into the crankcase and plays a fundamental role in the response of a 2-Stroke engine. Its design is intended to improve intake flow and crankcase filling, helping to achieve a quicker response and fuller power delivery. In a well-balanced engine build, this translates into more punch at low revs, better transition through the mid-range, and greater ability to keep feeding the engine as it pulls at high revs.

This is where the assembly makes the difference. The carburettor provides the intake capacity and the V3S manages the entry of the mixture into the crankcase. When the cylinder, exhaust, and carburetion are correctly matched, the engine can make better use of the increased available flow, achieving better throttle response, fuller delivery, and stronger pull. An intake designed to accompany a serious engine build, not simply to fit a larger-diameter carburettor.

The MRD intake system has been developed and tested on the dyno and on track, with the aim of optimising intake flow and overall performance. A solution intended for Derbi Variant builds where the goal is to make the most of every component and achieve an engine with a more aggressive response and racing character.
