As the successor to the 428H, the 428HD uses new technology for the production of rollers. Previously, the rollers were wound from strips of sheet metal, creating a seam and therefore a weak point. Using the new technology, the rollers are made from round material, thus avoiding a seam.

Compared to the standard 428D chain, the 428HD is reinforced with thicker plates and, as a result, has a significantly higher tensile strength.
