If you have tuned the engine, it makes no sense to leave the intake as the bottleneck. The SWR MRD kit combines a 28 mm intake with the Metrakit V3S by Moto Tassinari Reed valve, creating an assembly designed for tuned 2-Stroke engines that need increased mixture flow and better use of the cylinder’s potential.

28 mm intake: its larger diameter allows an increase in the mixture flow to the engine, reducing intake restrictions when the tuning setup demands more flow. On a tuned Derbi Variant, this helps make better use of the cylinder as RPM rises, aiming for more punch, better throttle response, and stronger pull in the upper range.

Metrakit V3S by Moto Tassinari Reed valve: it controls the entry of the mixture into the crankcase and is a key component in the response of a 2-Stroke engine. Its design is intended to improve intake flow and crankcase filling, helping to achieve quicker response and fuller power delivery. In a well-balanced tuning setup, the goal is more punch at low RPM, better transition through the mid-range, and greater feeding capacity when the engine pulls hard at high RPM.

This is where the assembly starts to make a difference. The intake allows operation with a greater mixture flow, and the V3S manages its entry into the crankcase. When the cylinder, exhaust, and carburetion are correctly set up, the engine can make better use of the flow, achieving better response to throttle input, fuller power delivery, and stronger pull.
