Malaguti 50 Morini S5 Newfren Clutch

Newfren centrifugal clutch for Malaguti 50 with Morini S5 engine, intended to replace the original assembly when the shoes begin to lose friction material or the clutch no longer engages correctly.

In this type of transmission, the clutch operates by centrifugal force. As RPM increases, the shoes move outward until they contact the clutch bell and transmit engine torque to the final transmission. When the friction lining is worn, glazed, or contaminated, the friction coefficient decreases and symptoms such as slipping, increased engagement speed, jerking, or loss of acceleration on take-off appear.

Replacing the clutch restores an effective friction surface and re-establishes cleaner engagement between the shoes and the clutch bell. This improves torque transfer at take-off and prevents part of the engine's energy from being lost in the form of slippage and heat.

It is also important to check the condition of the clutch bell. If it shows bluish areas caused by excessive temperature, grooves, or an excessively polished surface, it may compromise operation even when a new clutch is fitted.

When should it be replaced?

• When the engine revs up but the motorcycle is slow to move off.
• If jerking or vibrations appear during engagement.
• When the clutch begins to engage at a different speed than usual.
• If the shoes show worn, glazed, or contaminated friction lining.
• After overheating that has damaged the friction surfaces.
