The Transversal variator J.Costa is a variator functionally similar to the roller type, but with a series of features that not only simplify it but also improve its performance.

Starting from a structure similar to that of a typical variator, we see that in the J.Costa the outer plate of the driving pulley, the bell, and the rollers are changed, which are now called weights.

In this variator, the force bell becomes a simple element but of vital importance when defining the behaviour of the variator, since depending on the profile and how the sliding weights “attack” it, the variator will close the pulley in one way or another.
