Malossi is proud to present the new Digitronic ECU with variable advance!
Compared to the original ECU, Malossi has modified the injection timing maps and increased the rev limit by 1000 rpm.
The new Digitronic manages ignition advance, the SAS valve, and the operating map of the PTC sensor.
Ignition advance map
Ignition advance is managed through a three-dimensional map with linear interpolation, which contains 16 parameterization points for RPMs and 8 parameterization points for engine temperature.
SAS valve performance map
The secondary intake valve in the injection body allows the engine management to compensate for the typical non-linearity of a carbureted engine. The SAS valve (Secondary Air Source) is managed by the ECU through an operating map with linear interpolation that contains 16 parameterization points for RPMs and 8 for engine temperature. The SAS valve reduces emissions and optimizes engine operation for all operating conditions.
PTC heater
Special attention has been paid to cold start conditions, ensuring proper fuel vaporization under low temperature conditions. The ECU control and the PTC heater, located in the carburetor, keep the fuel at a constant temperature in the carburetor bowl.
Ignition coil charge
To increase the lifespan of the 8 mm spark plug used in this engine, the strategy has been to introduce a coil charge limit, reducing the wear on the spark plug caused by the electro-erosion effect. This strategy reduces the amount of energy required for ignition at high RPMs and the high voltage of the ignition coil without compromising engine performance. In addition, the ECU ensures starting and operation with low battery or without a battery. It is possible to start the engine using the kick starter regardless of the battery charge level.
