Variator Polini Hi-Speed Evolution for Piaggio and Vespa 250 / 300.

The Polini Hi-Speed variator for Piaggio 250cc and 300cc engines is a transmission component developed to improve the scooter’s acceleration and top speed. Thanks to the redesign of the roller ramps and the angles of the fixed and movable Air Speed pulley halves, a greater travel of the drive belt is achieved, providing more linear power delivery and immediate throttle response.

This transmission kit helps keep the engine within its optimal rpm range during the acceleration phase. By incorporating a Polini contra spring with 10% more load, loss of traction during hard acceleration is reduced. The kit includes two sets of 20x17mm rollers weighing 17g and 22g, making it easier to adjust the transmission on the Vespa GTS 300 according to riding style.

The manufacture of this component stands out for its hardened and ground chrome-nickel steel pin, which minimizes the coefficient of friction to prevent premature wear. The silicon-alloy movable pulley half, machined with diamond tools, promotes heat dissipation in the transmission. Replacing the original variator with the Polini Evolution variator on large-displacement scooters is recommended to maximize dynamic performance compared with wear of the original bronze bushing.
